Oh, Hello & T-Mobile

Robyn Scaringi  •  DIT  •  Commercial  •  Canon 7D  •  March 2012
Robyn walking in the background during an Oh, Hello/T-Mobile commercial

Robyn loved working on this shoot, and why not? It doesn’t get much cooler than working for Seattle-based creative production company Oh, Hello, making a commercial for T-Mobile. Not only that, but this was also Robyn’s first union set. That’s right: every crew person on the set was in the union, except Robyn. Which meant 10 hour days instead of 14+ hour days, much better craft services, and many other very nice perks. Robyn can thank Fred Beahm once again for the referral, who is now officially Robyn’s Best Friend of the Year.

The union-ness of the set also meant that Robyn knew absolutely no one on the crew (another first), but she made friends quickly with the camera team and some of the gaffer/grip crew. Robyn’s also proud to say that she held her own: doing DIT work for union commercials is extremely similar (identical) to doing DIT work for indie shorts. Robyn’s ready for it: bring on more union work!

Vitrectomy – Eye Surgery Videos

Robyn Scaringi  •  Editor  •  Presentation Video  •  Zeiss Microscope Camera  •  Feb/March 2012

Robyn helped Dr John Choi of Retina & Macula Specialists of Renton assemble some eye surgery videos for a presentation he’s giving this month. Yes, some of the footage looks like something out of Clockwork Orange, but most of the video looks kinda cool and outer-spacey.

Dr Choi found Robyn through Thumbtack, a service booking company, after he tried to edit the video himself and got frustrated with the weird codec the Zeiss microscope camera was using. Luckily, Robyn loves transcoding! The final video turned out smooth and effective, and was definitely interesting and educational to its audience.

3

Marco Scaringi  •  Assistant Director, Post-Production Supervisor
Robyn Scaringi  •  Script Supervisor, Editor
Narrative Short  •  Canon 5D  •  January/February 2012

Marco and Robyn teamed up with director and Seattle Central alum Dan Howes, who we met on the set of our recent 48 Hour Film Happy Monday. Most of the short film, simply titled “3″, was shot in a piano store in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle, and, oddly enough, almost every costume that every character wore had a sweater vest! Seriously though, “3″ is an intriguing film about the loss of human senses and how music can effect our connection to reality.

Originally, Marco and Robyn were only slated to be assistant director and script supervisor, respectively, but when director Dan Howes had to leave town and the original editor found himself overbooked, AND with a public screening date for “3″ already set in and locked, Marco and Robyn took on the roles of post-production supervisor and editor as well (read: they saved the film). It just goes to show, you can always count on the Scaringi’s in a pinch!

Boeing

Robyn Scaringi  •  Asst DIT, PA  •  Corporate Video  •  Multi-cam RED Epic  •  Jan/Feb 2012

Robyn recently found herself at Boeing, in the largest building on the planet, no less, helping to shoot a video to celebrate the one thousandth 777 being built.

She was lucky enough to work with Fred Beahm, one of the best editors and DITs in the state. And he needed the help on this shoot — we had 3 RED Epics shooting interviews and b-roll all day for 4 days — that’s a lot of footage to offload, back up, color correct, and transcode. But don’t get us wrong, as much as Robyn helped Fred, Fred helped Robyn: with stories, advice, and tips about gear and software. It was definitely a fruitful shoot for all involved.

Also of note, the director for the project was Michael Stephenson, of Best Worst Movie fame, who turned out to be a super nice guy. Word on the street is he’s planning to shoot a horror spoof feature in the Seattle area this summer. Our fingers are crossed that the Scaringi’s will get to be involved!

Hey Marseilles

Robyn Scaringi  •  DIT  •  Music Video  •  Canon 7D  •  January 2012

Robyn recently helped shoot a music video for the Seattle band Hey Marseilles, with Seattle Magazine photographer Hayley Young in the director’s chair. If that wasn’t cool enough, this is also Robyn’s first official gig with Ben Kasulke, a cinematographer whose kindof a big deal in the Seattle indie film community. The crew was otherwise very similar to (and cream-of-the-crop awesome like) the crew for While You Weren’t Looking. More importantly though, Hayley, Ben and the band chose a very unique approach in how they shot the video, so everyone involved is pretty excited to see how the final video turns out.
